Grounding in Space

Hey All,

So happy to see so many posts in the tearoom.

Today offered a beautiful experience. The Planetarium at the Museum of Natural History here in NY was refurbished several years ago, and I've been meaning to get up there. Finally made it this afternoon. I especially wanted to see the Space Show, but I couldn't get a ticket till 4pm and had over an hour to wander around.

In the Earth Science wing, I happened upon an exhibit about the hyperthermal vents at the bottom of the ocean, where scientists believe life on the planet first began. That area is still teaming with life, and, as far as they know, it's the only life on earth that's nourished by the energy of the "inorganic Earth itself" (as if anything could be inorganic) instead of receiving energy from sunlight like every other living thing on Earth.

There were wonderful movies of these hot springs spewing up from the Earth's core into the ocean, and these mineral "chimneys" that formed. There were samples of these chimneys on display, and I stood in front of them and either felt, or talked myself into feeling, energy pour out of them. I got a slight tingling.

Then I went into the space show, a magnificent show on a rounded ceiling in a huge auditorium with seats slightly reclined for best viewing. What a show, propelled through the stars, great pics from the Hubble! Galaxies and galaxies and tiny earth vanishing, and zooming through a black hole (as some artist/scientist imagined it).

I did the grounding exercise several times in there, and felt the most energy I ever felt doing it. I couldn't help but think of the hyperthermal vents pushing the Earth's energy up through me, and the stars pouring the Sky energy down through me. Being an overly analytic personality, I need good imagery to help me through more meditative things and kink my head into receptivity. My experience today really supplied superb imagery.

And, I discovered I'm thermophilic: heat-loving.

Hi,

Thank you for sharing this beautiful experience.

: In the Earth Science wing, I happened upon an exhibit about the hyperthermal vents at the bottom of the ocean, where scientists believe life on the planet first began. That area is still teaming with life, and, as far as they know, it's the only life on earth that's nourished by the energy of the "inorganic Earth itself" (as if anything could be inorganic) instead of receiving energy from sunlight like every other living thing on Earth.

In Angelique's grounding video, she mentions "Old Faithful" to describe the way the energy comes back up from the Earth. Today, I taught the grouding meditation to a chinese friend. I doubted she would have known what "Old Faithful" is and I didn't know how to say "geyser" in Chinese, so I used another analogy: a volcano, which in my view can also describe the rush of energy that comes from the heart of the Earth. I come back home to see your description of "hyperthermal vents at the bottom of the ocean". All those phenomenon are actually related.

This year, I developped and big interest in stars and space exploration. I am starting to recognize some of the main constellations in our sky as well as other objects, for example I at last know where in the night sky one can find the Pleiades... I have looked up many pictures of Hubble on the net, and learned some basic facts about galaxies and so on. I am sure you had a lot of fun there.

I sometimes use what I know about space in my meditations. When I am too identified with something, I like to put things in perspective: I imagine my self, my physical body, then zoom out to see the building I am in, then the city, the country and carry on zooming out to see the Earth, the sun and the solar system which I then locate within our Milky Way, and zoom further out to see our local group of Galaxies and then several groups of galaxies... I still don't know where it all ends... but when I come back to my own self, whatever problem I may have look so insignificant compared to the size of the universe. That's another form of release.

Come here to live, in Taiwan. Even though we are nearly in November, I almost got a sunburn today, in the park.

Ooops! I just watched again the video and find out that Angelique herself uses the analogy of the volcano. sorry!
