Dreams of Mexico

My man suffers from some seasonal affective disorder. He used to take a motorcycle trip to california camping every Feb, head for the sun for a week but last time it was all yelling drunks, gunfire and military jets screaming overhead. Not relaxing.

So we have decided to upscale a bit and spend a week in the Mexican riviera each winter, park him on the beach human solar panel. I think it would be cool to combine the trip with an FST intensive.

Looking at late jan or feb, 2012. Who is interested?

Duu

Very interested. Date is good especialy the early February. Nice place for a holiday.

Mari

Oh yes I would be interested! Lets see if practical issues fall into place.

Duu, if you happen to find some super cheap flights somehow, or ummm I wonder if it's possible to book the whole hotel-flights-package from Praque, and if it's any cheaper than booking from here? I know sometimes folks here book trips from sweden etc and there's considerable difference in price.

Tenatively I am looking at the week of Jan 28-Feb 4 2012. druid can only get one week off work but if enough people who travel far want to stay two weeks then I might too. Mexico is only 6 hours flight for me... If you are going to fly all the way from Europe you may want to hang around a bit longer.

Having spent a few days online looking at various hotel offerings I am considering renting a private villa for the week. Be fun to all stay in a house together? Looks like I can rent a simple house that sleeps 10 a few blocks from the beach in Playa del Carmen for around 3000 usd or a fancy one on the beach for 5000. Food isn't included, unlike the various "all inclusive" hotel offerings. (Gained 5 lbs in a week from the fabulous hotel buffet last year, eep!!)  Food isn't expensive in Mexico and the villas have furnished kitchens, so we can cook. Always have loads of snacks handy for the workshop anyway, high energy takes a lot of calories.

Need to know how many are interested to know what size villa to book, but it seems in mexico prices decrease as dates get closer so I still have some time to work out numbers before putting the money down.

I would also shift the usual workshop schedule around a bit, a few hours a day over five days instead of squeezing it all into a weekend .. sounds like a nicer pace that still allows for time at the beach and touristy things.   Would love to take the group on a field trip to Chichen Itza.
