Hi Jeremy
I have  not posted before on the noticeboard but I think I can help with your heart voice problems.  Most of us are not as totally gounded in the light as Mystress  so it is hard for us to hear the heart voice.  When you do it will change your life as it provides spiritual guidance which is directly linked to your state of enlightement.  It took me over a year to hear mine and to me it comes not as a voice but a scrolled message that seems to come from the back of the brain/mind.  You need to practice meditation to achieve stilllness and the lesson on the Witness State is also very helpful in quietening your mind.  You cant rush this lesson so I recommend that you continue with the course and return from time to time to this lesson.
I´m 61 years old so if I can hear the heart voice so can you!
be patient

Thank you so much Randall! That kind of puts things into perspective for me regarding expectations.  I was feeling a little unspiritual or unworthy (silly me -:)) but apart from the welcomed good advice your post really cheered me up!

Thanks again!

Hello Jeremy!

Randall's observations were right on spot. :)  There are as many heartvoices as there are human beings (at least)  Or if you prefer to look at it as one single heartvoice that expresses itself in a unique way in all of us, that works too.

Essentially I have pretty much stopped calling my heartvoice a "voice", since for me it manifests more as a feeling, or a knowing without words. Words may come in later if needed for its expression. :)

The Gandhi quote in the lesson points right to the essence. "The still small voice within"  I've found that anything that makes a lot of racket or come with statements or predictions is not the heartvoice, especially since the emotion that follows is often of a negative or fearful nature. I've had voices telling me I am suffering from illnesses or that I'm in trouble or that I must do this or that (or else *insert something here* will happen) My experience of this is that those things are just expressions of the ego-mind, as of itself or as an entity.

The most amazing revelation for me was that the feeling of the heartvoice is unmistakable when it's there, you will know it, because it's essentially you, much more so than all that other nonsense and racket that covers it up. And I've found that even if it tells me something that would be considered negative as far as my life goes, when the heartvoice tells me, there is no fear or negativity about it. Just a simple knowing, and the answer of how to manage it is often included in the package, before fear gets a chance to arise.

Most meditation techniques basically have one goal, to remove noise of the ego-mind/karma from our minds and subtle bodies so we can be guided by our own stillness instead.  Essentially the original purpose for a guru was to show the student how to find his own inner guru (heartvoice), after which the teacher/guru/master would no longer be needed for this thing.

Basically, if you are capable of watching the noise inside you, you are already in the witness, and if you pay very close attention you will notice something that is very different from all those thoughts and emotions. It seems to be unique for everyone.

I've found that entities and the ego voice can generally be treated in a similar fashion. Predictions, judgements, promises and declarations  of your own or others doom, declarations of your saviourhood, anything that includes "must", "should", or any other term that subjects you to bondage to some event...  They all result in some form or misery or other.

Some examples..

I have asked my heartvoice about what could or could not happen in the future.. In response I received an answer that filled me with absolute peace, that could be translated to.. "what is the future?"  or, "what is time?"  The "intention" was to bring me out of the idea that I should be concerned with this possible future event and just be here and now.

Sometimes, I just go within to take a look. Instead of the heartvoice was my divine beloved. She appeared in a mirror. (how fitting!) I asked her, what should I focus on right now. She smiles a secretive smile and holds up a finger to her lips.  Focus on the silence, that was it?

I've discovered that complicated answers built upon a lot of logic and reason are rarely from the heart.. The logic and reason tends to come later when the mind is used to apply the answers. (Like knowing how to run down to the store, use a credit card to buy the paint and paintbrushes I would need in order to follow that inner guidance to paint something)

I'm having a lot of fun writing this since I'm receiving a lot of insight from it as well.

Thank you!

Hi Gustaf,

You know reading that I now feel that actually I have had this 'inner guidance' (rather then voice for me) for a long time.  Actually in my years as a 'born again Christian' many years ago they said I had the gift of prophecy. If it is the same thing, it is also my intuition sometimes when I know something.... or creative images that appear without me thinking them up.  (One which led to an invention I had patented!)

The best I can describe it is when I have an answer without thought or even words.  It just appears like becoming aware of something.  No questions or doubt.  It just is.  This I am familiar with and it is definitely part of me.  Not something I can converse with so to speak.  For some reason I was expecting the heart voice to be kind of separate or I was just wanting an entity to appear or some magical thing.  Writing this now something Eckhart Tolle said springs to mind%hellip. He was talking about spiritual practice and how some people feel they need to add more and more (like all the Reiki attunement junkies out there) to become better when in fact you have everything you need and just need to be present in the now.  It seems I am always trying to add and analyze thinks so I can%rsquot see the woods for the trees.  You guys have really been a great help.  This board is such a good resource!

Thanks,

Jeremy

Mystress

  Hello Jeremy:

A lot of people get stuck on this lesson, and most often it is because they already have it but their expectations are different. For me it was 20? 30? years between learning the God spoke directly to some people, and realizing that in myself.

It is hard to find words to describe such a subtle yet extraordinary phenomenon. It is the feeling of rightness or truth that is the key, as others have said so well.

It is really beautiful to me to see the students, and some grad students supporting each other so wisely and warmly.  You were given excellent advice, I have nothing to add. Blessings!
