Hi Everybody!

It's nice to be here.  I'm a 25 yrs old.  I've been practicing an energetic Chinese martial art for about 5 years.  I've also been flirting with a mantra discipline recently.  The energy work of the martial art began making weird things happen me a couple of years ago...i.e. experiencing others' emotional states and physical ailments in my own body when near them...especially with family, having animals behave strangely around me, and encounters with weird vibrations that have held me paralyzed in bed on several occasions among other things.  My protestant religious upbringing and subsequent conversion to catholicism have done very little to help me come to terms with any of these things.  The result is that I don't go to church anymore, but am comforted with an awareness that the divine is with me always.  Mystress' grounding meditation has done a lot to help me deal with the emotions of the people around me.  Their emotional states have had much less of an effect on me since I've been using it.  So thank you, Mystress!  The efficacy of the grounding technique and a thought that FST holds a logical theoretical framework that will support my experiences as well as a desire to catalyze spiritual growth in my life have led me to sign up for this course.  I look forward to interacting with everyone and growing.

Very respectfully,
Pete

Hi Pete and welcome!

'subsequent conversion to catholicism'

Haha, counter-reformation! Being raised protestant like You, i also pondered at some times a conversion, or at least found some attractions which protestantism is lacking; because as far as lutheran prot. is concerned, it is spiritually null to zero; many protestants are at odds with their confession if they are no declared atheists!
On the other hand there must have been reasons why people abandoned catholizism.

'Their emotional states have had much less of an effect on me since I've been using it.'

Less bugging? That's what it did to me; The grounding unisono with the FST-text, one feeding the other and back; holding other peoples emotions against my own and becoming an auto-fascist(Coined by Carl Lagerfeld; wonder if he's also in this course).

Martial arts seems closely tied to special purposes, centering around one chief purpose: to prevent anyone to make a fool out of you; but my knowledge of martial arts is very theoretical, quite distant(hearsay so to say).
A seemingly funny thing is, that Mystress is holding the fool quite high(over the magician) No.1!
It's only one of many paradoxes you will encounter(if You haven't already).

Much fun!

Thank you Juergen,

Wow!  very incisive and fashionably? stated as well.  Thank you.  It seems that you are right..my emotions, thoughts, feelings are really not as disparate from another's as i'd like to imagine.

": Martial arts seems closely tied to special purposes, centering around one chief purpose: to prevent anyone to make a fool out of you; but my knowledge of martial arts is very theoretical, quite distant(hearsay so to say)."

You are again right as to why I chose to pursue the martial arts.  The idea was to be powerful enough to keep from being bullied, at the same time to become someone more extraordinary, and to impress my father.  There is some measure of shame and foolishness that is felt in admitting these things.  The funny thing about chi though is that to be able to handle more of it and to use it more effectively one has to give up a lot...psycho-physical tensions, fear of death and pain, the illusion of other, eventually the ego, etc. and become increasingly receptive and soft.  That sounds kinda like surrender.  The baser goals are transmuted with the fire of practice and the body/mind/spirit is purified to handle realization (I'm not there yet).  The ultimate ends of the true martial arts are a deeper understanding of conflict, life and death, and union with the divine.

": A seemingly funny thing is, that Mystress is holding the fool quite high(over the magician) No.1!"

Agreed.  I have much to relinquish.

Very respectfully,
Pete

Hi Pete. Good to see you are into martial art. I tried Karate and Aikido years back but it never worked out well for me, though I still appreciate the philosophies. Glad to see someone out there is doing good with it.

I have great respect for the skills and discipline involved in eastern martial arts; i think their arrival is a major reason why the West is awakening to the spiritual complex; i also think they are a source of the force by which certain asian countries are closing up to the West(or overtaking).

I've seen it especially useful for girls, where the mental control effect is particularly impressive...

You put that very nicely, it's interesting, that something like softness ensues in the process...

Hope You find the missing link here and thanx!
