Hey All,

I just returned to New York from Little Rock, Arkansas, where I was staying with my mother in her retirement community. Ark is now declared a disaster area. Big ice storm hit, knocked out lights, heat, phones everywhere. The retirement kitchen staff couldn't make it in (tho the chef was there) and I wound up doing kitchen duty and massaging elderly feet (their circulation is bad, and they were freezing). Couldn't evacuate the place for two days, because it's so hilly around there and the streets were solid ice.

Anyway, had some lovely groundings in the airplane. The ice storm was a perfect example of destructive beauty. The light glistening on everything! Glad to be back at home though. Now NY is expecting a big storm.

Hope you all are safe and warm and have a happy new year.

Mystress, hope yr time at home went well.

Love to all,
Barg

That is lovely Barg. Good Karma points for such selfless service to other. How did it feel?

Wish I could say it was totally selfless, but I knew it would make my Mom proud and knew I was being good and being thought of as a good person. On the otherhand, my own conscience wouldn't permit me to just stand around and do nothing. Ah, the little tapistries of inner tongues that chide us as we go about the business of the world!

Still, it was enjoyable to be of service, and I truly liked the women I was helping. They were mostly in late 80's or early 90's, and such troopers. Freezing, having trouble navigating the darkness in their apartments, and yet "not wanting to be any trouble." What felt the best was my helping them feel more comfortable in the situation. That was when the volume on my inner tongues would fade down and I was totally in the actions without thought to my goodness or selfishness.

Ah, this too too human flesh.

Cheers all.

Yes. The Divine Grace of "service-to-other".. lovely, isn't it? Peace, being in the moment and a quiet mind.

Happy New Year, Happy You Near to everyone!
