For those who have been having trouble accessing the videos due to a slow modem connection, the course is now available on Windows CD for $20. usd +$5 for postage. This CD is for registered members only, and is not intended to stand alone. It includes all lessons and videos, plus two bonus videos that are not part of the course. I am so excited about this CD.  There are so many times when I can not watch the video because of my slow machine.  Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.

Also, I had lost the address of the store--I have way too many favorites earmarked.  (AOL does not put them in alphabetical order-and it is very difficult to locate a site) I am ordering several items with the wonderful logo: T-shirt, Mug, Tile and Tote Bag.  I live very close to the CafeShops and should have my order in no time.  I am sooo excited.

I'm glad! There have been a few members who have had trouble accessing the vids. When I first partnered with Virtual Space, I had concerns about realplayer, but they assured me that the technology was improving so quickly, members would have no trouble accessing the vids.

 To a large extent, this is true.. since 1999, cable internet and broadband has come out, realplayer has released several new versions, and computer processers get faster all the time! But a number of members are behind the times, still using dialup and modems... so, in Sept. I persuaded Mark to give me a copy of the realplayer videos so I could make a special cd available to members only. He does not have a cd burner so he had to put them in an archive on the web so I could get them via FTP.

 Before that, I did not have a copy of the vids, myself except for a vhs copy of the original footage we shot... with all the coughing fits and outtakes intact! My choice, he did offer me a VHS of the finished vids but I wanted the originals in case I decide to re-edit them someday.

 It took a bit to work out the details, and it took me several weeks to redo the course so it could be put on disk... Cds and webservers are quite different!

 Originally we were just going to put the vids on disk but it made sense to add the lesson pages too and link them together for easy access. All that turned out to be much more difficult than I had thought it would be... it took weeks!! Even sinple stuff, like getting the index page to load automatically when the cd is put in the drive, was quite the learning curve.

 This week I finally got the CD together to my satisfaction, and recorded 10 copies on high quality Fuji cds with the new slim line jewel box. Next week the art for the labels and inserts go to the printer. I had to adjust the logo to make it printable, 600 dpi and full colour. I'm really looking forward to seeing them finished!

 Today I did the design for the CD label... I'll look at it again tomorrow and perhaps tweak some things, but I wanted to share it anyhow. Web is only 72 dpi so I expect the colour of the printed version will be wonderful!

 Eventually, when the course is published as a book, I want to release a CD with the vids full screen, maybe DVD instead of realplayer. That CD will be much more expensive and the website will not be on it.

 This CD is a special deal, for registered members only. The grad ritual is on the CD, password protected... The CD also links to the website, to this tea room and the email page.

 As an utterly silly side note, druid just came upstairs to ask if I knew that they turn Niagra Falls off at night?

I gave him a "I'm not dumb enough to fall for that" look, and he laughed and explained that it is true! There is a big hydroelectric dam upstream from it and at night they divert 75% of the water to a resivoir... turns out they only let it flow at 50% in the daytime too, because it is eroding backwards so fast it is moving upstream away from the tourist viewing points...  

 Makes ya go hmmm...

I often wonder why anybody uses AOL. It is more expensive and has fewer features than web access from a regular provider... plus their advertising method of giving away all those free CDs is environmentally disastrous, and they have campaigned extensively to censor the web. eek.
O well...

One day I might put up a gallery showing the evolution of the logo, and the symbolism in it. The snake, hand and tao were originally from a black and white pen and ink sketch that I made for the invitation for the first Tribe of the Fire Serpent tantric play party and workshop, back in 1995. '94? When I first started to design a logo for FST, I was really stuck for inspiration... then I remembered that invitation and scanned it, and inspiration flowed from there!
