Coming back to these pages after a long break, I went to the lesson 'What you Resist, Persists'.  I found a little synchronicity there, reference to a quote from Goethe (seemingly not on the page), who's play "Faust" I'd been watching before bed just the night before!

Life has a funny way of throwing these synchronicities (something I also re-read about) at you.  Just last week I had the symbol of the card the 5 of clubs, once a discarded card in the gutter, the next time on a pack of divination cards at home during a critical moment, with a corresponding meaning for that card printed beside it.  Things like these are common it seems when you try to align yourself more with your more fluid self (by which I mean self which expresses itself with less mediation via words/concepts between itself and the outside world).

I somehow wonder therefore why it is so difficult to surrender to a more open and unmediated life for many people, myself included. The primary reason seems to be a matter of energy in my estimation.  Trivial problems arise, one after another, piling on top of one another as the mind is busy trying to handle the previous ones, until something snaps and you yell "STOP!"

The mind gets frustrated.  But it gets frustrated faster because it has less energy (thus awareness), and it has less energy because it is stuck in the feedback loop of keeping rational thought at supremacy.  No inner silence.  As Don Juan said in Carlos Castaneda's books, inner silence cultivates energy/awareness.

I think perhaps another reason people find it difficult being submissive to 'Goddess' is because they believe it involves the death of the individual purpose.  But if submission to Goddess is seen as the lowering of the barriers between our outer and inner worlds, and listening to the more subtle thoughts known as 'feeling', then the submission can be seen more as a dance or a sex-play between the Cosmos and the Consciousness.  In a way this is kinda like the song by Live "The Dolphin's Cry" - "We are lost till we are found, this phoenix rises up from the ground, and all these wars are over...".  All these wars are over.  The war between the head and the heart, self and not-self.

Has anyone else come to any similar conclusions?  Do you think its possible that much of religious mysticism has been misunderstood simply because they misunderstood what was being referred to as destroyed?  The importance of defining what is meant by 'self' being absorbed, etc?

I'm still a novice and cannot say how accurate my perceptions of surrender are, but here goes:

In my linear experience, this was a bit of a paradox.  My litany used to be that "I" did not know what "I" wanted.  During this time, I was battered by the winds of circumstance and outside influences.  Ouch.  Then, when "I" clearly established what it was I really wanted, I experienced responsability and the causal effect of my choices.  Lessons.  So, I am learning to surrender to my higher self, because it's much smarter than "I".  Less ouch, less lessons, more bliss.  The more "I" surrender, the more synchronous my life is.  Often in small, helpful everyday ways, and others in ways that are very inspiring.

The more I let go, the more I simply relax and enjoy without thinking about my wants, the more my life is synchronous.

Please note: The above is good practice for me, and simply describes my experience of ego-surrender so far.

 Hello, Lady Jade:

Your perceptions are accurate, and what you describe is pretty typical of Westerners getting into mysticism... something I have written about, in a few lessons. Typical basic mystery school training, first teaches students that they have power, and how to use it... like how to make it rain and manifest what they want. Westerners do not grow up with a Holy man on every street corner, performing miracles like in India. First there needs to be evidence that magic is possible.

The higher degrees of training are of surrender... Having power is one thing, having the wisdom of how to use it, and when not to is something else altogether.

Goddess knows best when it needs to rain. Being a surrendered vessel of the Divine instead of a monkey flying the space shuttle gives a peaceful, fulfilling life.

 Thanks for sharing... Blessings!

Thank you Mystress.  Surrendering definitely creates more peace for me.  The monkey did not do it for me LOL.  I have a question regarding surrender, which I will write in a different post.

Blessings,

Lady Jade

The synchronicities around this course amaze me, and the more I surrender it, the more they appear!

I agree!

Well, most people will not surrender till they have no other option. With practice and experience tho, surrender happens more automatically. The logical mind starts to recognise that surrender is a more effective way to handle things.

: The mind gets frustrated.  But it gets frustrated faster because it has less energy (thus awareness), and it has less energy because it is stuck in the feedback loop of keeping rational thought at supremacy.  No inner silence.  As Don Juan said in Carlos Castaneda's books, inner silence cultivates energy/awareness.

Yes, it is true, and funny. What it really involves, is the death of the ego's idea of what its purpose is. Get all that stuff out of the way, and fulfilling your purpose is inevitable. Only, the true purpose may be quite different from what the ego thinks it is.

: But if submission to Goddess is seen as the lowering of the barriers between our outer and inner worlds, and listening to the more subtle thoughts known as 'feeling', then the submission can be seen more as a dance or a sex-play between the Cosmos and the Consciousness.  In a way this is kinda like the song by Live "The Dolphin's Cry" - "We are lost till we are found, this phoenix rises up from the ground, and all these wars are over...".  All these wars are over.  The war between the head and the heart, self and not-self.

Lovely!

I think, every religion is started by an awakened person trying to express and share their experience. They die, and their devotees may not have the message clear, there are distortions that continue to grow with each generation. Then along comes another awakened person, to birth a new religion... on and on, unending... Yet, every religion has a few common ideas at its core. There is a unity within the diversity.

  Thanks for posting. Blessings!
