Problematic Menses / Grounding

Hello Dear Mystress and everybody!

Usually as soon as my period arrives, I take "Naproxen" (a strong prescription anti-inflammatory drug) and pop in a tampon, and five days later, its over without my even being very much aware of it.  Without the drug, it is agony.

However, I've been reading a lot about menses being a time of power for women (which I cannot see yet, since I'm weak, tired, and out of it for a good 3 days), and yesterday when I got my period, I had the very strong feeling that the pain had a lesson to teach me, about my inner workings.

I explored this and waited about 12 hours before taking Naproxen, but my second day is too painful to endure without drugs (for the time being).

I checked and there is an earlier post about menses (someone's friend had very difficult periods), but it does not address my question.  However, if Naproxen is an option, this could be the answer to the earlier post... No more pain.

I'm also having difficulties with grounding since I had my period (I've been grounding for almost 2 weeks).  I just don't feel it.  Any correlation?

Thank you in advance for any help regarding the taking of drugs to relieve pain and how to properly handle periods so that it is a time of power accumulation, not power depletion.

Warm Blessings,

Nadine

Hello Nadine, unfortunately I can not say much about the drugs because I do not have pains when
I get my period, to the exception of a few cramps before it starts but nothing serious...
I have indian friends who told me that at home they have a special hut next to the main home. Ladies who have their menses are supposed to stay in this hut for three days. They are not supposed to enter the main home. Food is brought to them, and a little water too in the morning to wash...
This is because in the indian tradition women in the period of menses are considered impure. I never could understand why... In other cultures, the blood of menstruation is considered very pure to the contrary...
Anyway I do feel that menstruation is for me a time for myself. I feel a lot is going on in the body, and intuitively I feel there is a collective purification from the earth going on through the menses. I do not know to explain why, it is just a feeling. Although usually I feel very energetic and creative and loves to dance in nature and explode with bliss, during the menstruation I feel to stay at home, lay around, listen to music or watch a soft good movie, and let the cleaning happen. Somehow it is as a privileged time to nourish myself and if I respect this time I feel after the period again overflowing with energy. It gives me a very pleasant feeling to stay cozy in my cocoon. Of course I cannot stop everything and do the work I have to do but my all rythme is different and I really privilege rest, long nights...
I do not have pains during menstruation, but always notice the desastrous effect of allopathy on menstruation. For instance everytime I go to the dentist and he gives me anesthesy to treat one tooth, my menstruation is disturbed the time after.Dentist being my only exposure to allopathy, I cannot see other influences from other medecines, but if I had strong pains during menstruation I would try to see if there could be some medecine which have a poisonnous effect, or something in my life rythme which could be more in harmony with the cycle of nature, or...Natural medecine are sometime alos surprisely powerfull..
Anyway, I wish this will help you. I think shamans also consider the menstruation as a great time of empowerement for women.
With much love. Sending you the perfume of flowers in the woods and the music of the wings of the swans on the dutch canals...
Thanks for your answer to my previous post.

Thank you very much for sharing your experience.  Your words did indeed carry a beautiful scent with them!

It may have been due to the grounding, or to well-wishers, but I had a very easy cycle!  During the time when I was feeling pain, it was quite tolerable and I experienced the "magnetism" of my cycle for the first time.  I took 2 Naproxen instead of my usual 6.

I think that the root of the Indian tradition may have been for the benefit of the women...  I would love 3 whole days of retreat during this time (and probably other people would like for me to do that too!) LOL.

:I never could understand why...

Me neither. It just doesn't stick.

:In other cultures, the blood of menstruation is considered very pure to the contrary...

In "Mutant Message from Down Under" there is an aborigene shaman who keeps the blood clots of the womenflow of her tribe in a tube and extracts a substance from the other side that healed a broken leg within one day!

There are obviously deeper issues at work for me here, and, Godess willing, I'll have the courage to explore them soon.  I like the vision above that you shared with me.

Anytime you need a book idea, I'm your girl.  It may not be the best idea, but I'll have one for sure ;-)  I love reading, and so many great people take the time to write down their stories and share their beliefs.

Have a wonderful weekend!

My diet? These days everyday stingingneedles which I pick every morning in the woods...which I cook in vegetables pies with other vegetables, or puree with potatoes, or any other dishes...You know what are stingningneedles? They are those plants which if you touch them sting your hands. The french name for them is orties. They taste like spinash and are so healthy.. I also pick sureau, a flower made of many little white-like stars to make tea and put in dishes...
I am a vegetarian since about 30 years. I eat vegetable, fruit, grains, beans, yoghurt (but no other dairy)etc. I started eating eggs recently because they attracted me. I do not eat sugar because I have an allergy to it, but eat lots of sweet theings sweetened with grain syrup.
I wish I could eat only from what I find in nature, but only find the stingingneedles and the surea from now...
I am particularly careful not to eat dead food, or food with lots of chemical (we buy organic food as much as we can), and not to take allopathic medecine because it seems to me it is poisoneous often (sometimes necessary when no other choice but thanks Goddess, I always had the choice till now). Also allopatic drugs only take care of the surface symptom, but do not cure...
Voila, great for the offer to be my book-guide, I will surely call on you in case of need.
Guess what, my menstruation started this night...Thanks Goddess, a whole weekend of complete rest...
Much love, sweet friend

Bonjour DeviRam!

Wow, I did not know one could eat "orties"!

How come so little wild food in your area?  I hope it's not because of ecological deterioration...

I'm a beginner at identifying the edible wild foods in my area (which as you know is excellent).  Whenever I go for a jog, I feel like eating the "salad" that grows along the path LOL...  (dandelion is so delicious).

Well, once more it was confirmed to me that there is no great trick to the human body...  What you put in is either fuel or garbage.  Purity of body helps purity of mind.

My journey brought me to be completely raw once. I've had one foot in the raw-food diet and one foot in the SAD diet for many years now, and it is very "unbalancing".  I know what to do, yet I resist... Hrrrgg (cry of frustration) *smiles*

Spirit is handing me so many gifts through Mystress Angelique's course and through the words of many enlightened people, like yourself.  I pray to have the will-power to bring these gifts to fruition...

Thank you dear friend for sharing your beautiful abundant bliss with me, I'm so moved by your radiant joy!

Blessings,

Nadine

One of the links provided by Mystress (Ken's Page) reminded me of the importance of intent while eating.

What's working for me right now is not so much the "denial" of undesirable foods, but contemplation and appreciation for the freshness and energy of the food while I am eating.  This, of course, works much better with fruits and vegetables than with pizza.
