Does anybody here know how to utilize the tummo fire for increasing body temperature?

I'm freezing my balls of. It's freakin' cold here in Oslo!

Usually, I just ask it to. Going through the chakras with your mind, and with the intention to activate the fire, e.g. chakra meditation, also seems to help. However, while my back and the centre of my body get warm, it doesn%rsquot do much for my hands and feet, I think.

That's what I do, but it only warms the "inner body". My hands and feet are still icy cold.

I will go to an acupunturist tomorrow. Hopefully that will solve the problem.

relaxation should be the key;

surrender to the subconscious, your other gender side is also associated with the relaxed state of half-sleep;
and: your hottest love affair on earth, should include the feet as well.
As soon as She(or with the Ladies: He) owns your body, She/He will take care of it.
The central resistance may be: can we trust our whole body to a 'woman'?; forever, without interruption? Sounds like sort of a marriage sermon, eyh?
Or would one of the Ladies here submit as totally to a 'man' at least as long until Her Higher Self appears?
Bad memories of being or feeling hurt by men or women respectively may be under the stuff to be forgiven.

We are warm if we can unconditionally love or like the ones next to us, right?.

Why to content with table-silver(warm feet) if you can have the whole castle(Divine Love).

Still i'm trying hard, with partly success over the last year; this idea being half a theory half a practice thing.

Wool socks(sheep's clothing) is also of use.
Replace stoneage heating by underfloor heating could keep the unemployed busy with a few other nice side-effects.

Hi

I cannot say i love unconditionally, or that i have a loving relationship with my divine beloved always.. but i am rarely cold. I am a bit cold in the morning, but after a nice hot bath it has to be REALLY cold and windy to make me feel cold.

I had an outdoor job here in Denmark also during the winter. I noticed that when i resisted the cold, my energy became tight.. i sort of froze up, and it was hard to recover from this stiffness. Then i started "embracing" the cold, instead of trying to hide from it, i looked for it.. as if i longed for its touch. Then my energy grew stronger when it was cold. To begin with it did not help much on my bodytemperature, i just did not waste so much energy bitching about the weather. Then i noticed an energy that did not feel hot at all, but it supported my attempts to embrace the cold. It sort of implode and explode at the same time.. it does not give of heat, but sort of stops the discharge of energy the cold usually triggered. It keeps my temperature stabile also when it is cold. If i make snowballs without gloves it feels cold and my fingers can turn red, but they dont get frozen.. and they are back to normal after a minute or 2 in my pockets.

I have always wondered how the tibetan monks melt the snow with the tummo.. hope it is revealed here :)

Pete

I'll be up front that I don't have much experience with Tummo, but here are some of the things that have been beneficial to me over the past few years with regard to staying warm.  All of the methods have possible side effects...so user beware.  I'll try to cite sources wherever possible.  Hopefully someone will find something beneficial.  If these exercises are performed from a lotus position/indian style seated posture, the body's energetic connection to the legs is much more isolated from the torso = more difficult for the warmth to circulate into the legs = the legs aren't the part of the body that connects with the earth.  Sitting in a chair w/ the feet on the floor or standing with the hips rolled under and the spine straight seems to facilitate the natural energetic distribution to the extremeties.

1) The Foundations of Tibetan Mysticism, by Lama Anagarika Govinda lays out the Tibetan Tummo exercises in detail.  They use a combination of mantra and visualization to light the fires in the central channel, sushumna.  Then with each breath, they visualize expansion of the central channel to encompass the entire body = the entire body is inside of a raging inferno.  Just using the visualization minus the mantras heats me up significantly.  When they are done w/ the meditation, the intensity of the fires is decreased and anything visualized is dissolved into voidness.

2) When I was younger and in cold weather, imagining myself seated in meditation inside of the sun or inside of the earth's center would heat me up to the point of physical discomfort.

3) Trying to hold a feeling of love for everything around me generates a very warming.

4) Deep belly breathing will light an energetic fire in the lower abdomen that grows with each breath and spreads through out the body with practice.  The Taoists use this as bellows breathing...it is very energizing.  This is one of the ancient practices referenced in Tao Te Ching Ch. 5 where it says "The Tao is like a bellows:  it is empty yet infinitely capable.  The more you use it, the more it produces; the more you talk of it the less you understand."

5) The microcosmic orbit is another entry level Taoist practice which is used for many things.  When used with moderation i.e. for 3-5 minutes at a time instead of hours a day, energetic circulation up the spine and down the front of the body will make the body more yang (heat it up).  Reversing the orbit up the front and down the spine will make the body more yin (cool it down).  In my experience, this exercise is very effective at controlling body temperature.  Warnings - too yang and you WILL burn and blister people you touch and char things with your internal body heat.  Another thing is that if you are really yang or yin, the people close to you will become more yin or yang naturally to bring things into balance...so altering your internal state with this exercise will change those around you too = there should be some concern for the comfort of those around you if you heat yourself up with this.  Reference Glenn Morris' writings, Mantak Chia, Zhang Sanfeng's Taiji Alchemy Secrets, portions of the Tao Te Ching, and The Anthology on the Cultivation of Realization, and the list goes on.  Oh, and the hotter you are, the more water it is necessary to drink....or you will be super dehydrated and feel like soo much crap.

warm regards,
Pete

My heart chakra responded with joyous sensations when I read about the The microcosmic orbit.

I tried it out at for a couple of rounds now, and I can immidiately sense that my body gets hotter. Very cool! It seems to be very beneficial for other things as well, when practised with moderation.

Thanks!

Edward :)

Maybe not bitching about the weather was your first step to become temperature stabile; i guess stop bitching has at least a positive impulse toward relaxing;

From tibetan monks strange stories are told; one, that they strangulated themselves in service to the community(strangulation as a means of special pranayama). The other that they systematically energy-vampire(d) specially chosen women and are mad on keeping women generally down. Hopefully the Chinese invasion has a civilizing effect on that tribe.

Guess you're better off with this implosive-explosive method, sounds workable.

Wow! This is really effective. My hands are very warm and my feet are almost burning now.

Icy cold hands and feet are no longer a problem!

I learnt a Martial Art supposedly originally from Tibet and now taught mostly in Indonesia (went there loads of times training etc) called Kateda and I learnt some pretty good mediations for this but they are hard to do.   There is a good meditation in the book %lsquoThe Bliss of Inner Fire%rsquo by Lama Thubten Yeshes.  You may have read it before%hellip.. Basically you imagine a flame where your Tummo fires are rising up to and then past each chakra.  The Chakras heat up and Kundalini nectar drips off the lotus petals.  I am sure my description of this is cr@p so using your own judgment you might find that book insightful.  I must admit I am lazy so I have not practiced anything like this for at least a couple of years now.  We have had snow and cold weather here in Vancouver recently %ndash perhaps I should of!
