Hello everyone,

My name is Betty and I enrolled in the course just over a month ago.  I found this site when doing an internet search for sites on Kundalini and it looked like exactly what I need.  I had tried Kundalini Yoga in the past, but stopped after hearing about some of the very negative effects that awakening Kundalini can have.  I was afraid to try to make this journey alone.  I need support and guidance in order to wake the Snake without getting bitten.

The grounding exercise is working pretty well for me.  I'm feeling generally more relaxed and have a greater sense of well-being.  However, recently I've had a problem I'm sure is related to the Kundalini, as I've never had it before.  Whenever I masturbate I have some  memories of sexual abuse come up.  There's no pleasure anymore, just those memories from very early childhood.  I've had severe emotional problems due to childhood abuse but have overcome most of them.  I know it's common for old issues to resurface.  I'd appreciate any advice on how to deal with this.  Do I need to do the grounding exercise more often, masturbate more to get more memories up to the surface?

I look forward to getting to know you all.

Love and Light, Betty

A lot of what is previously written on this forum is about how to deal with upcoming emotions. Basically it is good to get them up and get rid of them. But it is also very important that we should not bring up so much suppressed feelings in a short period of time that they become difficult to deal with and put us out of balance. Mystress teaches active surrender, which is an excellent method do deal with most upcoming stuff. The tummo fire is also very useful to get rid of a lot of suppressed stuff, which you don%rsquot have to deal with consciously and decide how to handle. When surrender does not work, a common advice is to just be there and experience all the feelings but try to not identify with them, but rather watch them as objects. Grounding is a very useful method to get back in balance when things get rough. There is a close connection between kundalini and sex and sex tend to stimulate the flow of kundalini, so that more suppressed feelings are released.

I would say yes, but pacing yourself, and only if you are able to do so with some detachment and compassion for the child you were.

What you need to come to terms with, is that the body responds to stimulation whether the mind wants the attention, or not. Studies have shown that women being violently raped often orgasm, and even spontaneously ovulate. This  creates even more of an emotional disconnect from the body, because it feels like the body has betrayed the mind and emotions.

Focus on the physical sensations. The memories will come up, don't resist them.. let them flow up and out. Remind yourself they are of the past.  In the present you are your own woman and your body is for your own pleasure.

Do consider getting some conventional counselling support, as well if you haven't already.

  Blessings...

: I look forward to getting to know you all.

Mystress and Vyana,

Thanks very much for your helpful advice.  I will certainly proceed cautiously with this and seek counciling if the negative feelings become too much to deal with.

Love and Blessings,
Betty
