Thanks to Scott and Noco for responding to my introductory post.  I am motivated to follow Mystress's advice and take the course step by step.  I'm on Lesson 3 right now.  I also wanted to try and post occasionally to contribute by sharing my experiences along the way.

As I stated in my intro post I attended a Kundalini Awakening Seminar several months ago.  One of the things that happened after that was a wonderful dream I had involving a spider that was so beautiful. Like no real spider I had ever seen.  The spider in my dream was almost like a cartoon...it was a beautiful shiny gold color with VERY long legs and for some reason I knew it was a female.  The spider bowed to me and told me "welcome".  When I woke up I felt so good, not really knowing why but I have thought about this dream often since.

A strange occurance happened last night when I arrived home in the dark, fumbling for keys to open my door, I felt something plop down onto my head.  I brushed my hand through my hair thinking it was a bug or big leaf and while I was still fumbling to get the door open, I felt something crawling down my face and neck. Then I felt something BITE MY NECK!

By now I am frantically wiping this thing off me, opening the door, turning on the light and low and behold it was a brown spider at my feet that had fallen down.  I made sure it was not a poisonous one and that I was okay (no marks, etc.)

I usually hate spiders, looking at them or getting near them or their webs but since that dream, I have not been this way.

Is there a connection?  I don't know, but I know there is some symbolism involving spiders.  Anybody have any thoughts?

Your dream about the golden spider warms my heart!
I've come across a lot of references to spiders as a symbol for the Mother Goddess, of creation. I came across a Durga/Kali Bhajan (A devotional song based on mantras) in which one one of the lines was

"O Mother who creates the world like a spider, I bow to Thy Feet."

http://www.amma.de/eservice/bhajan_library/library/amme_bhagavati.php3

And your golden, beautiful female spider with long legs, reaching out to create the world. Magnificent!

If I see a spider in my house, I take it as a sign of good fortune. They are excellent hunters, and can keep many bugs away, and rarely cause any damage.  Except for the cobwebs of course that you may have to remove at times. :) That's why it's usually hunting spiders that are inside more clean houses.

I definitely believe it's a connection to your dream and the loss of animosity towards spiders. :)

Namaste!

Hi Dee,

I pulled this off another site, it seems very fitting (specifically when the spider says "welcome"):

Carl Jung's interpretation (from thecrypt.ca), "a symbol of wholeness due to its circular shape. He called circular symbols 'mandalas' and said that they had valuable meaning for the dreamer. The spider and his web may be calling for an integration of the dream[er]'s personality leading to greater self-awareness and resulting in feelings of completeness. Therefore, the spider and his web may be considered profound and spiritual dream symbols which call for greater self-understanding and encourage us to derive meaning and satisfaction from the intricate framework and interplay of life."

Just thought I would add..=-)

Spiders for me means patience... I was in an airport trying to get out of customs and we were packed in there like sardines. I saw a spider in the corner of the room and just stood there and watched it.... my anxiety left... still kinda leery of spiders but I do appreciate them in my life... as long as we stay on our side of the room *grin*... healing there somewhere....

Many Blessings...
