Grounding and Physical Pain

Sabrina

Hi everybody,

I'm new to this group, so let me introduce myself. My name is Sabrina, I'm 24 and I live in Newfoundland, Canada. I live with my boyfriend and a cat. I work at a call centre (ugh!), but with all hope am going back to university in January to finish my classics degree. I am an eclectic pagan who used to be Wiccan, but got tired of my spells backfiring on me. Most of my spells turned out like O. Henry stories; they worked, but the end result was not quite what I wanted. I got so tired of searching for a system or religion that worked that I gave up and decided to close my eyes and listen hard to the inner voice within. Which gave me a vision of the Great Serpent, and which led me to El Collie's website and Mystress Angelique Serpents' website. I joined the newsgroups and now.....here I am!!

I have a question about the grounding excercise. One of the signs of groundedness is a complete absence of fear and limiting thoughts. But what about physical pain? Cause I went through the excercise just now with the video and I have a lot of pain in my head and shoulders, and it makes it kind of hard to relax. I tried giving my pain to the Earth, but it was still there. So can you feel pain in the grounding without fear? Also, sometimes when I do the grounding I am completely relaxed but then painful memories come up and I get ungrounded. Am I supposed to stop and ground again? One more question. I find the best way to relax is in a lying down position, it is less painful for me (I have arthritis). Do you have to be sitting to make grounding efective?

Anyway, I'm really glad to be here. I'm looking forward to the rest of the course and to meeting some of the people here. Talk to you later!

Hi Sabrina, and welcome...

: Hi everybody,

What you put out comes back multiplied, so spells can have that effect - much better idea to listen to your heart.

:Most of my spells turned out like O. Henry stories; they worked, but the end result was not quite what I wanted. I got so tired of searching for a system or religion that worked that I gave up and decided to close my eyes and listen hard to the inner voice within. Again, welcome.  :)

It's possible that your chakras are blocked or getting clogged with karma as you ground.  Is that the only time it happens?  If so - try bringing up the energy (I do it by breathing) to open your crown - and then again to send the pain up into the sky, to the Goddess, surrendering it to Her as a gift.

Sure - karma releasing can cause pressure and pain when you aren't open, but fear would only probably add to it.

:Also, sometimes when I do the grounding I am completely relaxed but then painful memories come up and I get ungrounded. Am I supposed to stop and ground again?

Stop what?  The grounding?  It's not as regimented as you may perceive.  When the painful memories come up - acknowledge them, give them love, and let them go up and out your crown, again surrendering to the Goddess.  Continue the visualization once you've let go.  Attachment to the pain is ungrounding - give it up.

What works best for you is what's most effective.  : )

Hello Carla,

Nice to meet you too.

: It's possible that your chakras are blocked or getting clogged with karma as you ground.  Is that the only time it happens?  If so - try bringing up the energy (I do it by breathing) to open your crown - and then again to send the pain up into the sky, to the Goddess, surrendering it to Her as a gift.

They're the same areas that hurt all the time. I did discover that by focusing on the pain and acknowledging it as a good thing actually was what brought up all the painful memories. I discovered that some of the pain in my head and neck is withheld memories of abuse in the head and shoulders region. And when I try to release it, the energy seems to stop at and get stuck in the crown. I think the point is to remember all these abuses and try to resolve them with love. Haven't gotten that far yet though. I guess it takes time, although I have compassion with my abusers because I know they were abused themselves.

It's not so much fear as sadness that's bothering me.

I'll try. Some memories I don't want to let go of until I can understand them. So I give them to the Goddess with the knowledge that when I'm ready to understand, she'll let me know.

Thanks for the welcome :)
