i kind of feel left out of the empath club... bwaaaaaaa!

are there other non-empaths here? or is it just me?

anyway, it's past my bedtime and i'm cranky... i better shut this pc down and hit the bed... goodnight lovely empaths and  non-empaths (if there are any)...

Hehe, you can get an honorary E|Club membership I think. Just sign up! You get a membership card and everything. Thanks Percy, this post filled me with many hah hah's. I didnt think anyone would ever want to be part of the super feely clique and all of that. But you can sit at our table anytime You have to get used to them waving there wings around and almost spilling your tea though...

   percyval would have to get thrown out of his own club... you are empathic, jP... you have gotten stuff from me more times than I could count. you just don't get out of control crazy stuff. You are disciplined with your energy and your attention.
 All of my slaves are empathic, otherwise we could not play the games we do.

  Quit being so smug, Sean. Everyone is empathic to some degree. In fact, people who are utterly without it we call sociopaths, who often end up becoming dangerous criminals. No conscience. Like the replicants in Blade Runner. The test they gave replicants in that movie, was for reactions of empathy.

  I love that movie... what is even better is the book it was made from. "Do andriods dream of electric sheep?" by Philip K. Dick. In the novel, the world was dying, and animals are scarce and cherished. Most people have a religion that is based on an empathy machine. They plug into it whenever and become one with an old man, "Mercer" who is forever climbing up a hill. Sometimes he falls down, and you get bruises. People throw rocks at him, and occasionally he gets to the top, and you share his joy. His whole journey, over and over. Synchronicity and a mood analyzer plays a segment of a reflection of your own journey through life, that gives you inspiration.

 The novel also has a mood machine easy as a toaster, with a timer that you can use to program your brain to be in whatever emotional or mental state you want to be in, and to regulate your sleep. Most people keep it set to some variation of "happy happy joy joy" but Deckard's wife is the original Goth grrl. She likes to set it to "deep depression", or "melancholica with a touch of morbidity" and then lie around the house like a lizard, contemplating death. Deckard is always changing her settings when she is not looking... it is a very funny book, and thought provoking.

  To be human is to be empathic. If people were not empathetic, those adverts for christian charities showing starving children would not work. Nor would most other advertising, like that commercial that invites you to imagine sitting at the wheel of the car as it goes zoom zoom zoom. Well, that is also the power of suggestion... but putting yourself in the drivers seat is not so different than driving a mile in another person's mocasins!

 Empathy is part of being human. Some are more sensitive, is all... that that can be part nature and part training, like the trained sensitivity of a wine taster's nose that can tell you what vineyard the grapes were grown in, and what year.

 Your specialness is ego, Sean... surrender it, and you will meet a lot more empaths.
