Hi Mystress,

I don't know a lot about nutrition, but I have a question about margarine. When you advise against margarine, are you referring to soft, non-hydrogenated, polyunsaturated, or monounsaturated margarine? All the literature I've read recommends those types of margarine over butter for folks like myself with elevated cholesterol, triglycerides, and blood sugars. What does it mean to have an oil preserved by heating?

As for good calcium supplements, what do you recommend I look for?

In what form would you recommend buying bee propolis?

Thank you.

Re: my last question: I've seen propolis in capsules, tincture, powder, chunks, granules, and throat sprays.

Mystress

I get propolis from a beekeeper friend in chunks. I carve off a bit and stick it on the roof of my mouth for a sore throat. Dissolved in everclear makes tincture, can be a throat spray but I put it on wounds. Instant antibacterial cover.

The book on flax seed oil I recommend in the lesson has the science of bad oils. Author was nominated for a Nobel prize for discovering omega 3 oils and curing cancer with flax seed oil and quark cheese.

I have no real preference about calcium, except I like the fizzy kind. Get one with a cal-mag balance.

So from what I understand about this lesson is that flaxseed oil is great! I actually just bought some. Then you say "I'd also suggest a natural mineral supplement, such as kelp. Many Kundalites sweat out a lot of toxins, and the minerals such as potassium must be replaced. Some folks like blue-green algae, others find it too toxic. I also sometimes use an organic vegetable broth."
So a kelp is a natural mineral supplement that we should take in addition to a potassium replacing supplement like blue-green algae (or something less toxic) like organic veggie broth?
I do not sweat that much I would say I actually sweat less than average people do, even during rigorous exercise I barely sweat. A man named Garry I know who is awake said during his process there were times that he was sweating profusely and getting rid of toxins while on a treadmill I think? However, I do not think I have experienced much of this detoxifying method, I feel like my process is more metaphysical detoxification which also has some physical detox accompanied by it but never too much sweating. I'm just trying to figure out what I should get from the store. Thanks.

Hello Sava,
Everyone's journey is different and happens at a pace that Goddess wills.
The general list of K related symptoms and experiences is in no way exhaustive.
Every single person's growth is unique.
Also, sometimes diet can become a form of ego control - vegetarians claiming that they are somehow spiritually 'better' than meat-eaters, etc.
I am not sure if you have read Mystress' page on K-teacher about diet and sensitivity testing - http://kundalini-teacher.com/symptoms/stomach.php

It is better to learn how to do sensitivity testing for yourself because your body will tell you what it needs.
Hope that helps.
Namaste!

Yes it does help and watching the videos and testing some foods next to my power chakra worked, I was surprised with the results I came up with, it is a great method that I need to learn how to do better especially since I have many sensitivities. I had a sensitivity test done a few years ago and had many food and environmental allergies, I think I will have time to do other testing further down the line but for now I will try to get more intuitive so I don’t have to rely on testing/others. Thanks for the response.

Mystress,

You once suggested sauerkraut during a SL session on diet and K. I was wondering in what quantities would you suggest eating it. My mom got me a jar of sauerkraut from the supermarket and so far I've been having one or two tablespoons a day. What exactly does sauerkraut do for the body?

Thanks,

WZ

Mystress

  Science!

Depression has been linked to unhealthy gut microflora, the composition of the biome, your internal ecosystem. Unpasteurized sauerkraut is a probiotic that has been shown to have beneficial effects for depression and social anxiety.

Store samples have been shown to have low counts of probiotics. Home made is better.

Ecosia search engine plants a tree every time you use it.

HI Mystress,

I will have to look into some sauerkraut recipes if homemade is better. I take an OTC probiotic called Culturelle already and find it pretty helpful. Neat tip about the search engine. :)

WZ

Mystress

Yeah, neat that everyone who clicks on the search link, plants a tree!

Some of the results of that search included recipe instructions, and more info on the nutritional benefits.

You can search youtube for kraut making vids, and discover the world of preserving vegetables with salt based fermentation for their nutritional, and probiotic benefits. It is trendy.

One major benefit is that it is very high in vitamin C and minerals.

Fun fact: Scurvy prevention in different navies is why British sailors were called "Limeys" and German sailors were called "Krauts."
