OK, I found the problem.. thanks, Carla.

Ya see...when it was not working before, druid discovered that when I had moved the site, I had uploaded an older version of the "data" file that keeps track of the message numbers. It was stuck trying to write over message #443, and could not. We were already up to message 499.  druid reset the data file to 501 and it worked again,.. for his test messages and mine, at least.

Except.. when he re-uploaded the data file he forgot to chmod it so that the machine could write new numbers to it. So, all of these last messages have been saved overtop of message #502. They are all message #502..I reset the data file to message #503 and chmoded it properly, and presto! Fixed! Except the messages that were written over, are gone forever... sorry.

I really am getting better at understanding cgi-scipts. Actually... here is what happened. A sample of how handily spiritual gifts translate into an easier life.

I read an email Carla sent me about the error, when I first woke up, and I forwarded the info to druid. I discovered the error myself yesterday, upon discovering that the message I spent an hour writing to Light was mysteriously vanished, and the index had scattered its subject header all over the board with content of Light's original post. Weird. No idea what the problem could be. We were heading off to celebrate Samhain and druid promised to look at it this afternoon after he fixes his boat.

I decided not to wait. I opened up FTP to take a look at the root scripts that drive the board, and this html file that is the index. Noticed that all recent messages were numbered 502. Made no sense. Went to the bathroom. Sitting on the throne, Goddess said "the data file is not chmoded properly." Sure enough.. it was not. druid forgot to chmod the file after he changed it. (Uploading cgi-scrips is trickier than uploading normal html files. They have to be uploaded in binary, and then the "chmod" adjusted. chmod defines whether the file can be executed or written over, and by whom.) I reset it to 503 so it would not overwrite Carla's message and sent these three test posts. Taaa daaaaa! (Patting self on back and thanking Goddess, and Carla.. :) )

Huh, turns out druid is not off fixing the boat after all... he is here and was planning to stay home, take care of his cold and fix the board instead. Huh! Too late, I fixed it already... time for sunday morning hugs!

 Blessings!

PS: to Light: the link for the page about my private sessions is the gif of my name on the top left of every lesson. In the deleted post, I explained about what is occurring and what to do about it, but it is probably better for me to teach it to you one-on-one. No accidents, eh?

:) I would like you to visit the link below, which will help you to understand why your choice to "hold the group" is getting you beat up.
