Hello Everyone, I have been reading and studying much these days. I was studying the FST crest and I have a question. What are the meanings of the flaming hand with the star, and the repeated eye insignia on the back of the serpent? I am aware of the Taoist symbol for balance of Yin & Yang. I would appreciate any comments on these meanings.
Namaste,

Mystress

My own understanding of the symbolism I was moved to create in 1994 and update in 1999 keeps unfolding.

Do a search of the archives, you will find some interesting threads.  Take a look at my avatar image, learn some more...

When I drew the hand, I associated it with a gesture of peace, and transmission of  energy.  I did not quite twig that I was drawing my own hand, even though I used my own hand as a model... until someone pointed out the energy of a pentacle embedded in my palm.  Hand of the Shaktipat Master.  I discovered later, the open hand is  the mudra for preaching, or teaching.

The pentacle is a symbol of the human on the planet, so it also symbolizes our human relationship to the Divine Mother.  The fire is Shakti, and the thumb represents evolution.  Opposable thumbs. Tool user.

Free will turned to a tool of Shakti, of Goddess's will for evolution... which is also what the Fire Serpent itself, represents.  The instinctive wisdom of your own DNA, glowing with its own piezioelectric fire of life!

Take it all together, it represents everything you need to know about the teacher and the teachings, from the Earth Goddess focus to the direct transmission of knowledge: the unfolding Shaktipat wisdom embedded in each lesson.

Look again at the Avatar image. Left hand, receptive over my heart, right hand projecting that light to you.  Sharing from my inner Guru, Goddess within me. The Fire  Serpent over me like the Naga cobra shielding the Buddha. That which I serve: Goddess will for evolution... and your evolutionary path is written in the DNA of your body.

The eye in the triangle is called the "All seeing eye" and it represents consciousness, the eye of God.  It is related to the Egyptian symbol for the Sun God Ra, and represents the clairvoyance of the third eye.  Some relate it to the observer of the Witness state.

   Earth Goddess, Sun God.

Kundalini, coiled 3 & 1/2 times at the root chakra, awake and beginning to unfold itself.  Interesting how the triangles and the arrow shaped snake head  give a sense of movement, the upward flow.  The rainbow sparkes on black scales represent the shift of  visual, physical perceptions on attaining unity with the Void.

The triangle represents the trinity, and upward pointing equilateral triangles are the alchemical symbol for the element of fire.

The Dao symbol itself, can be seen as the Kundalini serpents; caduceus double helix, seen from above. Two snakes coiling around each other.

So, the symbols are mutually referential.

One day in your meditations, the Fire Serpent may appear to you in his black iridescent, firey cosmic cobra form.  Ask to see the symbol on his hood: it may not be the eye in the triangle, but the symbol you will see will be a reflection of yourself.

Hello Mystress, I am very appreciative and I want to thank-you for the very detailed explanation. I can see now, how these pieces fit together.
Namaste,
