Some folks asked about the origins of the FST logo. This is the source.  In 1995 I did a series of events centered around BDSM tantra. The title was "Tribe of the Fire Serpent." I did a pen and ink sketch for the invitations, which was simply inspired. It just flowed out of the pen.

When I went to make a logo for FST in 1999, initially I was stuck, sort of blocked on it... then I remembered this, scanned in a larger copy to get the details.

So, now ya know! :) Blessings...

I really like that flyer! the silhouette of the person looks feminine and snakey looks so striking that its kind of 3D! - very creative!

Ha! How beautiful !

You could not have done this solely computer-based i guess.

Looking at the flyer with looking at its origin, when flowing out of the ink, is amazing !

Did You do much of this artwork at that time ? It looks like You were very skilled.

There is a motive on Snakeys triangle elements: to me it looks like an eye on 2 legs (Ha! Odin's Eye ? ).

Hehe, You must have confused folks about what they were in for: BDSM, ART, Tantra, a Tribe, Fire Serpent ? -- very funny !

Thank You for this Easter Egg and for everything else.

Love,

juergen.

  Thank you.

Yes, I have done quite a bit of that sort of thing, I was prety much computer illiterate at the time. Usually I would do the ink by hand, then go to Kinkos (office service place with computer rental, printing and photocopiers) to layout and print the text, then cut and paste and mess with it as a collage until I had what I wanted.

Funny, because last week with the organizer I came across a bunch of stuff I made like that, everything from play money for a charity slave auction, to a poster for a music festival... even some X-mas window painting stencils and 50 caricatures of office workers for a CEO who thought to use them instead of photos in the year end report.

I am an artist, first... it is just that people are the most interesting medium I have worked in... :)

The distinction of an Artist and a Witch is fluent, i think, and although arts are academic disciplines they are the least academic of all. Having great mistrust in the academic world You see me as well a tinge hesitantly.

The first link( between the Artist and the Witch ) that comes to the mind is the flow of inspiration channelled from the Muse, put by You so vividly as "flowing out of the pen".

Mozart is also interesting, interesting to see musicians pissed by his genius, not only of his contemporaries. So, not all artists are kissed by the Muse to the same degree.

Having Your focus of art on the medium of people, is probably a good way for an artist to remain healthy, or even gain in healthiness; and i guess it takes some discipline to keep on that track, and stay away from temptations.

Then, often what we usually understand by "artists", are often sort of tragic people, sometimes quite sane people though, i guess these are the less one-sided ones, people who remain able to relax.

Personally i have never been extremely attracted to any artist, which may to a part be my dumbness; another source of distance may not lie in artists themselves, but in their reception by others, let's call it media which can distort and manipulate.

My personal contribution to art consists in my reception, which renders some partly resonant stuff(music, literature, humor, imagery, films etc) much more beautiful than it originally is, or sometimes a noise from the streets forms into a tear-forcing sound or music-piece, which lets me thank Goddess that i'm not Mozart, or i get visions of imagery, which renders visits to galleries obsolete.

There are a few exceptions, productions of art, writings etc., i do not affect, which miraculously stay completely intact, which is already perfect in my eyes, forcing me to tears without any contributions of myself, things i like, people i like, artists i like.

And You are so multitalented ( bright smiles )

In Your picture gallery there are lots of indications of the Commedienne, You Are !
Ha ! Did i say i visit not galleries? :)))

Thanking Goddess
Thanking You,

It is Egyptian, the eye of Ra.

http://www.fire-serpent.com/post/eye.jpg" />

It represents the third eye wisdom.

Everybody sees something different on the cobra hood of the Fire Serpent... a symbol that is a reflection of yourself. You can see, the original invitation also held an ankh- the Egyptian symbol of life, eternal life, that has come to be a symbol for vampires... Karma vampires too~!
