doppleganger & Shadow Self

Dear lovely FST peoples, i wrote this in an email to a friend this morning, and since i had this understanding and terminology from taking this course, i thought it would be interesting to all y'all:

"wooo, i woke up this morning realizing that a doppleganger (sp? that Germanic eviltwin that goes around trying to kill you and take you over) is actually your Shadow Self and it IS trying to kill you, but it is trying to kill your ego not your body, and it seems evil, but it is really Love in disguise trying to get you to surrender, and it will take you over when it wins but it is actually your HigherSelf taking you over, so instead of running from your eviltwin you should help it to kill you."

"then i realized that my lifelong eviltwin dreams were not born out of paranoia but were simply dreams about people's shadow selves...even if through the lens of my fearful brain...which made me realize that though the paranoia was not real, the fear of people's shadow selves (mine included) is real and that I could only learn to not be afraid of loss born of ego-shadows if i let my doppleganger kill me. when this will happen, who's to say."

  Very interesting persepctive, Laura. Food for thought. I would simply qualify it by saying that since the Shadow is defined as "everything you think you are not", it usually manifests as the opposite gender of the body. An aspect of the Divine Beloved. A polarity, rather than a twin. How that would be interpreted in dreams, tho..? Could be just as you say.
