FST Chat Times

Hi everyone,

I'm wondering if it would be convenient to adjust the time of 1 or both of the monthly FST chats in Second Life. My difficulty here is they currently land smack bang in the middle of the night (1am and 5am).

Is anyone opposed to moving the time of the 11am (SL Time) chat 2-3 hours earlier or the 3pm (SL Time) chat to be 2 hours later?

Blessings,

Richard

Mari

Hi :)

3 pm SLT chat is too late for most europeans, so I think it's ok to change it's time if it's fine for Mystress.

Blossom

Change it to what exactly? Don't forget that some members live in the Asia-Pacific regions -the first one is already at 2, 4, and 5am in places.

Mari

Blossom, give us times that suit you that aren't so early in the morning SL time. If it fits with Ulterium and Mystress we could try it out.

Maybe other students living in Asia-Pacific could give suggestions too?

Blossom

6am or 7am onward is okay for me. But if others in this location have preferences I'd like to hear their input too.

Mystress

5 pm then 3pm time for the second chat of the month was for the western world, Canadian and American students but hey they mostly didnt show up for it, except for Sigmund. The Europeans consistently stayed up very late to attend instead.
So I am flexible with suggestions for that time slot... time and day, also more willing to do weekend stuff in winter than summer.

I am really not at my best at 7am...

Duu

Yes the second chat time is somewhat late for Europeans. It would be great if a time could be found that would somehow suit both hemispheres. It is great when chats have lots of students. From my guess it looks like the 9am SL time could be an option.

Ulterium

Trying to collate this...

- The current chat times are 11am and 3pm SLT time.
- The current times are not suitable for some Asian countries (e.g. 4 hours apart in the night)
- Few Americans and Canadians attend with the current chat times.
- Europeans stay up late to join the 3pm SLT chat.
- Blossom suggests 6/7am however it's not ideal for Mystress.

If it's convenient with Mystress, and others are acceptable to this, could I propose:
1. to change the 3pm chat time to be 5, 5:30, or 6pm (2 or 3 hours later which is early morning in Asia).
2. changing the 3pm chat to  1pm  to help for the Europeans (evening).
3. possibility. move one chat to the weekend to provide more access for people who are unable to attend due to work during the week.

Mystress

There is another possibility, to add a third chat during the winter.

How many students in Asia are interested in attending chats?

I am way off at the western edge of the world but conveniently so is SL.

robink

I would be interested in checking it out, Australia is about +18 hrs ahead of SLT.
3pm SLT would be morning my time which is ok, 11am SLT is 5am my time (early but doable, dont expect me to be fully awake though). Anything earlier than that and I'll be asleep!

Mystress

  OK executive decision :)

I am completely dyslexic with time zones but world clock is a handy website.

  New 3rd chat time added:

first wed of every month during the winter, we will see how it goes.

First one is this week, two days away. Happy Samhain!

When I said what I did it was supposed to be Australian time or more specifically AEST (2-3 hours later than current chat-time). Not 6am/7am Mystress time which she said she doesn't like ('not at her best'). Make sense? :)

Blossom

Also, I missed this months new chat because I was away...but will definitely be at the next one.

Feels defensive.  Anyway see you at the next chat.

Blossom

you perceive someone clarifying something to you as defensive? yes, I can see how that is 'my stuff'.  ;D  ;)
