Questions in my head

I feel as though the ego was born into surrender and free will is illusion. If everything unfolds as it should and goddess is behind that my ego is shaped by my experience am I just the consciousness here for the show? Perhaps it's the choice to think that is the free will? It must be since actions are what creates the karma prolonging the show. I was confused for a moment but reading this back to myself I understood the meaning of "as above so below"
