I will be hosting the sabbat of Lughnasadh for my local pagan group on july 28th/29th. We are renting a small private park south of Vancouver for camping overnight and everyone is invited. Event goes noon to noon.

This is not an FST event or weekend intensive or anything like that, the pagan group I am a member of,  is very diverse and not my students. The group motto is "Eight great parties a year" and that is how we celebrate the sabbats. A ritual, then feasting and partying.

To give an example of the silliness, it is part of ancient lughnasadh tradition to sacrifice the stud bull, eat it and install the new one. For this "ritual of the bull" I bought a very cute gund bull puppet on ebay (two of them actually) and will be visiting costco for the meat.

Well, last time I hosted Ostara (Christians call it Easter) I got a hollow chocolate bunny, drilled a small hole and filled it with chocolate sauce, laid it on a platter surrounded by strawberries and sliced fruit. We sacrificed it during the ritual and ate it. The youngest person there stuck a knife in to break a hole so the hollow bunny became a bowl of chocolate sauce, and we dipped the fruit into the chocolate sauce and ate it.

Admission to this event is by donation, if you want to attend let me know.
