Playing the Whale Drum

Hello:) I guess this is a question to Mystress...

I have a shaman's drum, and am not a shaman. I really enjoy playing it, not just for the magical things that tend to happen when I play but also for the joy of creating sound... It's sound is different depending on how and where I play on it:)

I'm not a shaman but does this mean anything?

The things I do notice is that I have to be well grounded before I start playing, or I fall into the witness state and loose toutch with my physical body. But other times it seem to build up a lot of healing energies and that feels really good. I've also used it for releasing stuff. At first I didn't put a protective spell on it and then it felt like it took some projections from my friends who had a little fear of such things, or it may have simply reflected it. I guess fear needs to be replaced with grounding or it reflects the fear back? And before I received it, I got a visit from a raven spirit who was or still is connected to the drum.

I'm asking because I don't want to insult those who are true shaman's by playing it.

Mystress

If the drum likes you enough to show you its magic then its ok to play it. Keep it wrapped in fabric when not playing it, a silk scarf is good.

Ok, that makes sense...:) I have a bag (for the lack of better words for it in english) that I keep it in:)
